چکیده

Introduction Pacemaker and implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) lead perforations are well described and may cause many complications. Delayed cardiac perforation (DCP) is a less recognized complication of device implantation and is believed to be rare. We present a case of DCP wherein 2 simultaneous ICD lead perforations occurred in the right ventricle (RV) and were overlooked on chest radiograph (CXR) and chest computed tomography (CT) images. In patients with implanted cardiac leads presenting with chest pain or dyspnea, physicians familiar with typical lead placement should review the radiology images, and not simply read the reports, to recognize lead perforations.

Subacute Right Ventricle Perforation by Pacemaker Lead Presenting with Left Hemothorax and Shock

Cardiac perforation by pacemaker is a rare but potentially fatal complication. Acute perforations occurring within twenty-four hours of insertion of pacemaker can lead to hemopericardium, cardiac tamponade, and death. Hemothorax occurring as an acute complication of pacemaker insertion is reported but extremely rare. Previously, hemothorax and shock as a subacute complication following pacemake...

Successful Management of Right Ventricular Perforation Associated with a Pacemaker Lead During Off-Pump CABG Surgery: A Case Report

Introduction Intraoperative right ventricular perforation due to pacing catheter after its successful and uneventful insertion is a rare complication. Here, we present a case of cardiac arrest due to right ventricular perforation associated with a pacemaker lead during off-pump coronary artery bypass graft surgery. Case Presentation The case was a 68-year-old male, who was admitted to our hos...

Delayed right ventricular lead perforation complicated by tamponade in biventricular hypertrophic cardiomyopathy

This report highlights the importance of a more cautious approach in a patient with a history of implanted cardiac leads presenting with chest pain or dyspnea, to prevent overlooking cardiac lead perforations especially in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy which seems to be not absolutely protective.

Electrocardiogram showed sinus bradycardia and his Holter monitoring also showed sinus bradycardia with sinus arrest, sino-atrial block and a longest pause of 4.3 s. Then sick sinus syndrome and Adam-Stokes syndrome were diagnosed. Then a dual chamber pacemaker (Medtronic SDR303) was implanted an...
